Hanley Town Hall formerly the Queens Hotel was built in 1869. The hotel soon began to fail financially. The owners of the hotel,  local magistrates and pillars of the church,  decided to open a spirit vaults in the cellars beneath the hotel to boost trade. Soon the hotel gained a reputation for anti-social behaviour and bad publicity. The ladies who frequented the establishment were known as The Shades of the Queens.

 

Can we make contact with one of these young ladies? Who is the man with the angry face seen in the old court room? Who does the scream heard in the cellars belong to? Why is there an intense feeling of being watched? Why were guests jumping in fright? There are too many questions.....come and join us as we search for the answers.
